Part 1. Diploma in Natural Skincare Formulation

The Diploma in Natural Skincare Formulation will teach you to formulate your own unique natural skincare products from scratch. You’ll discover the art of creating your own professional formulations designed to suit your skin type, needs and preferences (or those of your customers).

You’ll formulate a wide range of skincare products, including facial oils and oil-based serums, body and massage oils, dry oil body spray, bath and shower oils, cleansing oils, oil-to-milk cleansers, whipped body butters, balms and salves, soaks and scrubs, facial and body polishes, toners and spritzers, creams and lotions.

Learn professional formulation skills and knowledge such as how to develop a product concept using a product development brief, the product design process, the method of professionally writing and evaluating a formula, and how to use a benchmark (reverse formulating). Also learn about lab techniques and microbiology.

Create a brand and sell your products legally by defining your brand values and niche, building a strong brand identity, and complying with cosmetic, labeling and claims regulations.

Part 2. Diploma in Natural Haircare Formulation 

Then move on to the Diploma in Natural Haircare Formulation, where you will discover a wider range of ingredients including natural surfactants and cationic emulsifiers, and many more specialist ingredients that benefit the hair. You’ll learn in detail about hair biology and how to formulate haircare products for different hair types. 

You’ll learn to formulate six types of shampoo including regular shampoo, daily use shampoo, conditioning/2-in-1 shampoo, clarifying shampoo, anti-dandruff shampoo and solid shampoo. You’ll formulate six types of conditioner including rinse-off conditioner, leave-in conditioner, intensive conditioner/hair masks, detangling spray, solid conditioner and co-wash.

You’ll also learn to formulate  twelve hair treatments and styling products including hair oil, hair butter/mask, anti-frizz spray, dry shampoo, clay hair mask, ayurvedic paste shampoo, scalp scrub, scalp serum, hair wax, hair gel, salt spray and heat protection spray.
